Here I was, watching the SOPA brouhaha all high and mighty (also a bit scared), seeing as it was a US thing, and we all know the US legislature is a bit silly.
And now I find out about ACTA, and I just feel scared and powerless. It’s pretty much a done deal, isn’t it? It doesn’t matter how amazing the internet is, and how many people would be affected if it were to be restricted; the powerful, moneyed few have decided that that shit needs to stop, and privacy and open access to information be damned.
Well, fuck those people. I don’t have a lot of power, but the bit of it I have will be brought to bear to keep this most amazing thing we’ve created as open, chaotic and fun as it is. As soon as I figure out how.
